Typical Day for a Volunteer
6:30am - 7:30am – Mon-Fri Children off to School . If they can drive manual transmission, a volunteer will drive kids to school in town. Otherwise, Dada will do school run.
8:00am - Wake up to frog noises outside.
8:30am - Breakfast is served, usually a few vegetarian dishes to pick from with rice and talk about day plan
9:00am - 12:00pm
- Mon-Sat: Children’s Thai lesson taught by Fon or Kick, the 2 Thai teachers at Baan Dada and volunteers
- Mon-Fri: Volunteers teach English lesson to the kids who are not in school due to being too young or not having citizenship papers. (Note: It is best to break them up by English skill level)
- Art activities with children
- Playing with the children
- There are always ongoing project such as building, painting, or community projects such as fishing net making.
12:00pm - Lunch time
1:00pm - 6:00pm - Same as morning and children often have afternoon nap. Sometimes someone takes the truck to Sangklaburi (the local town) for supplies and have a break to do washing, reading, relaxing etc at the volunteer house.
3:30pm - 4:30pm - School run, everyone arrives back home, snack time for children.
6:00pm - Dinner time.
6:30pm - 8:00pm - Help with homework, teach (music, English, arts etc) and play.
8:00pm - Bedtime, free time or just relax!
